Inley and Onley
Inley and Onley Applications
Inley and onley applications are the solution methods offered between crown and padding. Inlay or onlay is applied when the tooth structure is not in a condition to support the filling and the tooth is not damaged enough to be covered with crown. Onlay applications cover a larger area of the tooth surface than inlay applications.
The life of these applications varies depending on the material, the state of the tooth to which it is used, the chewing power of the person and whether or not oral hygiene is paid attention. If you pay attention to such points, inlay and onlay applications will continue to function in a healthy way.
Materials to be used in inlay and onlay applications are prepared in the laboratory. Therefore, the treatment process covers a total of 2 or 3 sessions. In inlay and onlay applications, the following process is followed.
- In the first appointment of the patient, the bruise is removed first. The tooth is then made ready for application.
- Measure the tooth and its surrounding teeth.
- The tooth of the patient to be treated by the dentist is covered with temporary filling material.
- The measurement taken from the patient is sent to the laboratory.
- On the second appointment of the patient, materials come from the laboratory. Temporary fill is removed. Inley and onley are rehearsed. If there is no problem, it is sent back to the laboratory for polishing.
- Inlays and onlays, which are ready at the last appointment, are adhered to the teeth using special adhesive materials.
- At the same appointment, the dentist arranges the closure exactly and polishes it.
Standard oral and dental care is sufficient for the maintenance of the inlays and onlays applied to the tooth. Regular brushing of the teeth and flossing are necessary. As in every dental practice, inlays and onlays are periodically checked by the dentist to increase their life.
The difference between inlays and onlays between aesthetic dental applications is related to the area they occupy. Inlays, which are more similar to fillings, are placed between the mounds called “tubercle yer located in the chewing areas of the teeth. Onlays are coated on the tooth in such a way as to cover one or more tubercles.
The material used in inlays and onlays is made of fiber-reinforced composite or ceramic. Depending on whether the tooth is natural, porcelain or composite, it is made of suitable material.
The remaining intact tooth tissue is insufficient after cleaning the damaged area of the canal treated or advanced decayed teeth. This makes contact with the adjacent teeth impossible. Lack of contact between the two teeth causes food to accumulate in between, causing problems in the teeth and gums. Inlay and onlay, which are more resistant to abrasion than conventional materials used in the filling, can easily provide the form and contact required due to its preparation on the model.
In inlay and onlay application, it takes about 2 hours for the adhesive to fully work. Anything can be chewed during this time, but eating is inconvenient. After 2 hours, food can be eaten and regular oral care can be started.
Porcelain inlays and onlays; aesthetics, long-lasting, protecting the healthy tissue in the tooth, new caries formation and edge leakage risk is preferred because of such reasons. In porcelain inlays and onlays, the restoration of the tooth is very sensitive.
I came from Qatar to have my dental treatments. I found the dental office online. I called and met .. My hotel organization was done. They met me at the airport. My treatment process went very well, very kind people. Would recommend to anyone.
We came at night because we know that the dental clinic is open 24/7. I had a complaint of excessive toothache. Quickly x-rayed and checked. Although my home is an hour away, I always prefer to have a dental office for the following processes.
